There have been warnings that the big Chinese producers are too big — they're producing and selling so much that their customers won't need replacements until the manufacturers have gone bankrupt. (If you're a manufacturer and sell 1000 things per year and the world needs a total installed base of 100000, then you're in trouble if your things have a >10 year lifetime, see?)

But this doesn't look so bad for the solar vendors. The oil companies are still significant and can be driven bankrupt.
